What the recommendations mean

Push: Ads earn back their cost with room to spare, or the book sells well on its own. Increase budget gradually.
Maintain: Ads roughly pay for themselves, or there isn't enough spend yet to judge. Keep current settings.
Reduce: Ads cost more than they earn back. Lower bids and trim weak targets, but keep the book visible.
Pause: Ads cost far more than they earn back and the book loses money after ads. Stop and rework targeting before restarting.

Terms

ACOS: Ad spend divided by sales Amazon attributes to the ads. Lower is better.
Break-even: The ACOS at which ads exactly pay for themselves: royalty per sale divided by list price. Below it, ads earn back their cost.
Profit after ads: All royalties for the book (with and without ads) plus Kindle Unlimited page-read income, minus ad spend.

About these numbers

Recent royalties are Amazon's estimates; they are finalized monthly and can shift slightly.
Ad results come from summary reports and are spread evenly across the days each ad ran, so weekly ad figures are approximate. The longer-period figures are more reliable.
The figures count only sales Amazon attributes to ads. Ads can also lift a book's organic visibility and sales, which isn't captured here, so treat Reduce and Pause as starting points to test rather than final verdicts.
Break-even uses each book's actual royalty per sale in each marketplace.
